No Ordinary Island.
No Ordinary Cheese.

At King Island Dairy, we’ve been crafting award-winning cheeses for generations.

Rooted deeply in our local community, every wheel of cheese is a reflection of our island — its people, its pastures, and its passion.

A Century of Craft. An Island Like No Other

As one of Australia’s oldest dairy producers, we take pride in small-batch, handmade cheeses made using traditional techniques, honed over time and passed down with care. Our cheeses draw on our island’s unique climate, rich soil and salty pastures — the result, some say, of shipwrecked straw mattresses that scattered foreign grass seeds along the coastline, now flourishing in King Island’s pristine, mineral-rich environment and unspoilt pure air.

Our Cheese Range

Our island

King Island is a place like no other – located in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia — it is remote, windswept by the Roaring Forties, and utterly unique. Its rich soils, abundant rainfall, salty pastures, and mild temperatures year-round, create ideal conditions for dairy farming. This rare combination of elements gives our milk — and our cheese — an unmistakable character you won’t find anywhere else.

Our Farms

Essential to producing the highest quality cheeses is the provenance of ingredients – our milk is pure, rich and 100% local. In fact, 95% of our milk comes from our own farms, just minutes down the road from our dairy on the island. Our cows graze freely on lush, salt-kissed pastures year-round, producing grass-fed milk that’s collected fresh every single day.

Where To Buy

Your favorite King Island Dairy cheeses are available in most supermarkets around Australia and served in many deli’s, specialty food stores, restaurants and cafés thanks to our trusted distributors.
